„Stress and loss in counselling”
This seminary is about stress and losses in our lives. What is the impact of stress and how counselling happens in stress situations. We learn consultancy techniques that help a person to discharge emotions of that nature. Studies provide deeper insight and understanding of death and stress. Each person is given a chance to survive the phenomena of death. Consultants experience a lot of tears and laughter in these processes. The understanding of loss shows individual’s mindset towards unnecessary belongings, work and relationships, that relate to loss.
Main objective of the counselling program: Improve participant’s understanding of stress and loss, the impact and meaning of it. The other main objective is to develop participant’s ability to accept responsibility for your own wellness and the ability to be more flexible and adapt to the requirements of the external environment.
Contents of the consultative program:
Introductions and adaptation.
What is psychological stress and how it affects us. How it is for children. Post-traumatic stress in kids and teenagers. Physical and sexual violence, abuse. Psychophysiology and symptoms. Crisis situations and restimulation.
Positive and negative stress nowadays.
Different causes of stress – how people react to them.
Recognizing stress energy and using it.
Techniques of immediate stress suppression.
Techniques that don’t let stress to pile up.
Psychological mechanisms of stress and loss. What is the fear of loss? Principles and methods for working with loss that is related to: material things, parting with close people and death of relatives.
Questions. Summing up the program.
Work methods used within this counselling program: theoretical material, role playing, business-like games, discussions, reflection, corporeal exercises, visualization, work in a circle, working in pairs and small groups.
Length of the counselling program: main program – 32 academic hours (4 days/8 h)
Where? When? How Much?
Lessons take place in Riga, Kalnciema Street 29a-6. Enrolment and a tour with closer look happens once a year, in October, on the open door day of school.Studies start annually in November. Lectures are divided into seminaries; all together they are held for two years. Each seminary lasts two days (16 academic hours). Studies take place on Saturdays and Sundays once or twice a month from 10:00 to 18:00. Payment for one seminary (2 days) – 147 EUR.
